Top pick: #5 (CELEBRITY SIGHTING) - Lightly raced grey filly is improving for the Rick Dutrow barn and he'll be stretching her out in distance this afternoon. Daughter of "Holy Bull" ran 2nd last out at Belmont going 7 furlongs in her first start in almost three months. Drops into a claimer again and is the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #2 (Pyramist) - Twenty-one time winner ( yes 21 times) and the reast of the field combined has 14. Veteran mare hasn't raced since last Oct. qt Laurel, but is training nicely at Monmouth and her trainer (Pete Walder)wins at a 40% clip off of long breaks. Dangerous rival.
3rd pick: #1 (Quixsand) - Price play has the rail and will be stretching-out in distance and going turf to dirt . Filly ran evenly last out at Belmont and will run with lasix added for the first time. Speed play with an apprentice aboard.
4th pick: #8 (A Perfect Squeeze) - Delaware shipper was an easy winner there June 14 racing for $20K to pick-up her 2nd win and lightly raced filly by "Lemon Drop Kid" gets Dominguez to ride her in her Saratoga debut. In a good barn (Barclay Tagg) and a threat from off the pace.
Del Mar Race #3 at 6:00 PM Eastern
Top pick: #8 (JUDY'S MY ANGEL) - Speedy filly jusr failed to last at this price and distance at Hollywood park 25 days ago. Race was her first in blinkers and trainer Peter Miller puts a 10lb apprentice aboard today. Tough to beat on the front-end.
2nd pick: #9 (Three Cuties) - She also ran 2nd at Hollywood last out and it came at this price going 5.5 furlongs. Stalker draws a good post for her style and should have "Judy" in her sights through-out. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #6 (Sweet Pleasure) - First-time starter from the Hollendorfer barn (26%) is working steadily and a bit above average overall. Home-bred by "Candy Ride" need not be much to factor against this group.
4th pick: #4 (Dynahere) - 4yo drops a bit in her 3rd back off a long layoff. Daughter of "Dehere" has finished 4th in both of her return outings and has raced evenly in each. The drop can only help.
